ASAA Professional Appraisal Seminars
ASAA offers Professional Appraisal Seminars in a continuing effort to provide
its members (and non-members) with services that will improve their performance
and enable them to better serve their clients. ASAA's education courses
are designed to ensure that all appraisers, regardless of discipline, receive
the very best instruction and most useful information to help them succeed
in business.

Important changes have taken place within the personal property appraisal
industry. Of these changes, the new AQB Personal Property Appraisers Minimum Qualification Criteria are the most important and will have the
greatest impact on our industry. Developed by the Appraisal Qualifications
Board (AQB), as authorized by Congress, these new criteria were recently
adopted by the Appraisal Foundation in Washington, D.C.
The AQB, which establishes minimum standards for education and experience
for both real estate and personal property appraisers nationwide, developed
these new requirements to insure that personal property appraisers have
adequate skills and experience in their field. Personal property appraisers
who meet the AQB Qualification Criteria will have demonstrated that they have
sufficient appraisal expertise, are educated regarding the principles used
in establishing personal property values, and are able to write appraisal
reports that meet the industry standards stated in the Uniform Standards
of Professional Appraisal Practice. (USPAP).
These new AQB Qualification Criteria are expected to become the industry
standards that professional businesses such as banks, insurance companies,
CPAs, attorneys and governmental agencies will require appraisers to meet in order
to do business with them in the future. The bottom line is that, in the
future, appraisers will likely need to meet the AQB Qualification Criteria in order to do business
with top-notch professionals.
If you currently are in, or desire to enter, the personal property appraisal
business, the ASAA Seminar was designed with you in mind. The seminar will
provide you with the ability to develop and write an appraisal that meets
the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, and will give
you a good start toward meeting the new AQB Qualification Criteria developed
specifically for personal property appraisers.
If you are unable to attend one of our live Seminars, the same instruction is available by ordering the ASAA/ASEA Home Study Course.
The Home Study Course is an excellent course designed to show you how to professionally appraise horses,
livestock and/or farm equipment in compliance with the same national standards used by all professional appraisers,
including real estate appraisers.
The Home Study Course is presented in the same manner, and covers the same material, as the live Seminar.
It consists of a Student Manual, two DVD lectures, a Work Book, and an Answer Book so you get immediate feedback to
let you know how you are doing as you learn. The Internet is not needed for the course.
ALSO, whether you attend
the ASAA/ASEA live Seminar or take the Home Study Course, you will also receive, absolutely free, ASAA/ASEA’s Appraisal
Report Writer software (a $495 value). After you input the information that only you can provide, the software will
write your entire appraisal report for you and literally shave hours off of the time it normally takes to write the report.
